My special person is one of the nicest people I know. She has long black hair and brown eyes.  She normally wears black clothes but sometimes different colours. She is tall and slim. She smiles quite a lot.

She relaxes on her chair and reads her book while me and my cousin Maddox have a bounce on the tramp for a while.  To be honest I think she  loves reading a lot.

Most the time she is happy and nice. She's really nice to be around
because she is usually in a good in a good mood.

Her house is pretty tidy. There is a gray carpet around the living room. The skin coloured couch sits about half a metre in front of the tv.  The tv is usually a black screen, not often watched. The radio sits on the shelf next to the tv providing music to listen to.

Adrenaline Forest

Do you love your Dad?  Have you wanted to do some fun things with your Dad … but you couldn’t?  ‘Things’ just got in the way and you missed out on your time together.  When you finally have a moment of fun, the wait is definitely worth it.      
 
Well I remember a time with my Dad like it was yesterday. It was a bright and sunny Saturday morning and I was looking after my baby sister.  I thought it was just an ordinary day but I was wrong. It was about ten o'clock in the morning when suddenly Dad said “Right everybody, get in the car, we are going for a drive”. So we all jumped in the car not knowing where we were going. After about ten minutes  of driving around we reached a sign saying "Adrenaline Forest this way."

We followed the sign. Then my heart started to pound, I think I had guessed where we were going. Then out of the blue I saw massive trees, they looked like they went into space but I don't think they did. Then I saw big obstacles attached to the trees from one to the other to the other and on and on. There was a big flying fox, the course would stop and then if you kept walking, you would find yourself at the start of the next level.

We parked up in the carpark.  Me and Dad jumped out.  I was smiling from ear to ear, I was about to have the best time of my life, boy was I ready.

First we got a lesson on how to use the harness and I got it way faster than Dad, I even had to help him get it right, but I bet  he would never admit it. Now it was time to get measured. The man said that Dad could go on all of course but I could only go on the first courses because of the height restriction.  We had to put some cotton gloves on so we didn't hurt our hands .

It was time to  ... oh no... it was time to start! I was so scared (times a million). Dad told me I could do it.

I started climbing up the start of obstacle on the first circuit.  It was a simple bridge walk. At first the obstacles were easy but  they got quite hard after a while. One of the obstacles was called ‘The Spider Web’  At this one you had to pull a rope and another rope came back to you.  On the bottom of the rope was a little thing that you put your foot in and then swung off a platform. I had to  grab a big web - like a spider web made of rope.   When I did it I was screaming the whole time because it was so scary.  Dad was pretending he was batman.  ‘Yeah sure Alfred”  I said to him.  He made me laugh.

 Then we did my favourite obstacle of all, it was called ‘The Barrels’ because we had to go upside down in barrels.  I thought it was so fun.  Dad did it before me and loved it but it did hurt his back.

Last and second best was the big flying Fox. We had a special thing for the flying fox.  I went first.  I went super fast down, down, down, until I hit a big mattress tied to a big tree. It sent shivers up my spine, I loved it. Then Dad yelled out that he was coming down.  I needed time to detach myself from the flying fox but he didn’t wait.  I panicked - he was going to ram into me and kill the fun of the day.  As it happened I got my clips off with plenty of time to spare so I didn’t have to worry after all.

As I was sitting at a picnic table watching Dad finish off his adrenaline run, with us enjoying much needed afternoon tea, I thought back about how much fun I’d just had.  I was so happy to have finally had the fun time with my Dad that I’d been waiting for, for months.

It just proves what Mum tells me is always right …. “Good things come to those who wait”.

There are millions of materials in the world.  They can be classified in many groups such as plastic, paper and metal.  People are adequate at using materials in ways that look after the environment however they could get better.

People  can use materials in many different ways such as....  glass can be used for windows and glass houses.  Wood  can be used for desks, tables, houses and many more things.  Cardboard can be used for boxes and book covers.
 
Materials are made up of many properties. Metal can rust and some of them are magnetic, it can be recycled.  Organic materials come from nature so that means they can biodegrade. Plastic is man-made. It is made from petroleum so that means it won't biodegrade, instead it's  photodegradable. Photodegradable is where it breaks down from the sun.  According to science it takes 500 - 1000 years for one plastic bag to break down.

Overall I think people are adequate at using materials in ways that look after the environment.   There are some people who think they can litter when and where ever they like because either they can't be bothered putting rubbish in the bin or they are not properly educated and need to be taught.

That Was Summer

Do you remember,
When you were camping in the backyard?
The cat jumped up and scared you so badly,
That you ran inside as fast as a moving bullet.  
That was summer.

Do you remember,
Going on the blow up waterslide?
You put too much dishwashing liquid on,
And the waterslide was so slippery that you fell off.
That was summer.

Playing on the trampoline?
You were jumping with your little sister and friends.
You were so happy.

Going inside and flopping on the couch?
Asking your parents for a ice cream but they said no,
Because you’d already had one that day.

Swimming at the beach?
You forgot your goggles but you went into the water anyway.
When you came out you had red stinging eyes.
That was summer.

Remember,
Going to Jellie Park with your friend and mum?
They dared you to jump off the diving board.
It was the scariest thing you’d ever done,
But you did it anyway!
That was summer.

How to have a fun sleepover in eight steps.

Step one:
Make some new/old friends and get them to know you well and get to know them well ( or if you already know the people, skip this step).

Step two:
Invite them over to your house and have a big sleepover.

Step three:
Ask them to bring movies, a sleeping bag, popcorn and some soft, fluffy, cuddly toys.

Step four:
Have a pillow fight, watch movies, gossip, sleep, wake up and be happy.

Step five:
Have a picnic on a hill.
Perfect food for picnics: sandwiches, apples, chocolate,
fruit strings and crackers.

Step six:
Take your friends somewhere you love to go.  For example: the park or the swimming pool.

Step seven:
Go for a nice long bike ride and on the way home stop at a dairy and get an ice-cream (yummy).

Step eight:
Go home and watch a movie then take your friends home.

And that is how to have a fun sleepover!

Search+rescue

Search+Rescue


There I was on the soccer field my hands trembling with fear and excitement because we were doing search+rescue. We started off  doing something called a line search - fun!  A line search is where someone goes and hides and the other people who are there line up so their shoulders are touching.  It was pretty fun to do.


Then we had to make a tent out off a piece of rope and a tarpaulin. We had to collect sticks and rocks too.  We were getting timed.  Well at first me and my team (Lucy, Pierre, Jett, Xavier.c and Me) were arguing but after a while we started to work it out.  Then we tied the rope to two  big trees and put the tarpaulin over the rope. We got some of the rocks and put them at the bottom of the tarpaulin. The instructor shouted ten more minutes to go! Oh no we still need to get lots of sticks to put on the other side of the tent.  So we all sprinted away to get some sticks.   Luckily we got enough sticks and finally made the tent. We were done. I thought we had done a good job.

It was an unusual day.  It was the last day of  the school holidays and quite possibly the best .  In the morning  I went to the movies to watch Paddington with my friend Chloe,  it was a great movie. After the movie we found out we were going to Jellipark - cool!!   But we weren't just going swimming we went on the hydroslide yaya!


After going on the hydroslide a few times Mum dared me to jump off the highest diving board. So I lined up and in no time it was my turn. I slowly but surely got to the top, I had one look down the side and I thought no way am I doing that. I slowly walked down the steep steps with my head hanging  in shame.  


I said to myself I am not going to let this beat me so I lined up and like before it was my turn in no time.  Very nervously I climbed up 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10.  I was there.  I walked onto the plank and sat down and then turned around and held on so my legs where dangling down. On the sideline of the pool some teenage boys were shouting “You can do it.”  


I  dropped into the cold water.  When I fell in it felt like 1000 needles flying into my body.  I swam to the side as fast as I could and then one of the teenage boys came and helped me out.  I was glad that I did it . I strolled over to Mum and Chloe. Mum was giggling like a teenage girl who just saw someone really funny. Chloe was too. It  hurt my feelings a little bit but I did not care as I was was too proud of myself for finally doing it!
